Spanish - speaking cultures have words for buildings in the community

2.

Spanish - speaking cultures have words for basic places in the community

Spanish - speaking cultures have traditional central plazas with buildings surrounding

Create town maps with buildings labeled

2.

Match pictures of buildings (post office, etc) with word labels on white board

3.

Create Hispanic town with appropriate placements of town buildings and places

4.

Much of the assessment of a student’s work is in the application of knowledge

Demonstrated through games, songs and group or individual activities

6.

Use town maps to demonstrate ability to use directional words

1.

How are communities alike and different in Spanish speaking countries and in the United States?  Where would you find basic necessities in Spanish speaking countries?

2.

How can we use authentic children’s literature to understand and learn about the cultural traditions as exemplified in shops, and other town buildings?

3.

What are the typical places in a community?

 

 

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

 

The student will be able to:

Identify typical buildings in a community.

2.

Locate places to find basic necessities in a town.

3.

Locate places on map given directions.

4.

Use directional vocabulary to locate a specific building.

5.

Describe differences and similarities between communities in Spanish speaking countries and the United States (town green vs. plaza).

6.

Ask questions using directional works and other vocabulary to locate places.
