ENDURING UNDERSTANDINGS

 

The student will understand that:

Spanish-speaking cultures also have words for colors

2.

Spanish words for colors retain their meaning regardless of endings, which change to agree with nouns

3.

Colors combine to create other colors

4.

Spanish-speaking countries may use different words for the same color (i.e. café/pardo/marrón)

By the end of second grade the student will be able to:

Identify 11 colors in Spanish (red, blue, yellow, green, orange, purple, pink, brown, black, white, and gray)

Predict what color will be created by combining two other colors

3.

Color a picture by word label

4.

Describe clothing by color (s)

5.

Express favorite and least favorite colors orally

6.

Identify objects by their color(s)

7.

Create bar graphs using colors and/or colored objects (m & ms etc)

8.

Locate objects in the room as described by their color(s)
