- The Oswegatchie School Organization (OSO) is a parent/teacher organization similar to a PTA, however, we do not charge dues and are not affiliated with any national organization. An Executive Board comprised of a President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer governs the OSO. The Executive Board presides over all general membership meetings and additionally meets to discuss and resolve open issues from those membership meetings. All OSO members are encouraged to discuss issues and concerns with the officers, or to raise discussion items at general membership meetings.
- The OSO meets on the 2nd Tuesday of the month in the school library. Meetings usually last one hour and free babysitting is provided in the multi-purpose room.
- Each of the seven Waterford schools selects representatives to the Waterford Parent Liaison Council, who meet monthly with the superintendent in order to maintain communication at the district level. Meeting information is then presented back to OSO members at the monthly meetings.
- All families enrolled at Oswegatchie School are automatically members of the OSO. We welcome you and hope that, by attending meetings, participating, and volunteering at school events, you will become an active member. The OSO assists the staff in organizing a variety of school functions throughout the school year.
- The OSO also conducts fundraisers, with the assistance of our students and parents, which financially support many of the year’s activities and events. There are several major fundraisers each year, which generate the operating funds for assemblies, field trips, and special activities for all students. Fundraisers vary from year to year, but volunteers are always needed to assist with set up/clean up, baking, publicity, and lists of other activities. Just one hour can make a difference. For those wishing to volunteer to chair any of these events, details of past events are maintained and available to assist in current planning. Please volunteer.
