Summer Food Assistance Programs Available for Families

The Waterford Food Services would like to highlight several programs that are available this summer to help families access nutritious food.

  • Connecticut Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) – Eligible WIC participants can receive $65 to purchase fresh Connecticut-grown fruits, vegetables, herbs, eggs, and at certified farmers’ markets and farm stands.  Visit the Connecticut Department of Agriculture site for more information.
  • Summer EBT (SUN Bucks) – Eligible school-age children may receive a one-time $120 grocery benefit to help cover food costs during the summer months. Most eligible families will be automatically enrolled through programs such as SNAP, TANF, HUSKY A, or free/reduced-price school meals.  To double-check your child's status or track the issuance dates in your area, visit your local state agency's portal—such as the Connecticut Summer EBT/SUN Bucks Page or the USDA Summer EBT Overview for a nationwide map of participating locations.
