    SOCIAL MEDIA - Targeted Audience * All Levels - This session will be a follow-up to the keynote talk for parents who want more depth and ask detailed questions about children and social media use.
     
    THE FINANCIAL AID PROCESS - Targeted Audience * High School - This session will give a brief overview of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and considerations made by institutional financial aid offices.
     
    CONCEPTS BEFORE COMPUTATION - Targeted Audience * Elementary Grades 3-5 - This session will inform parents about the “new math.” As we move away from the abstract thinking of the traditional algorithm, parents will learn the conceptual understanding behind topics such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, etc. in order to help their child at home. Parents will also learn about problem solving strategies such as the bar model and tape diagram.
     
    NUMBER SENSE - Targeted Audience * Elementary Grades K-2 - This session will focus on the progression and importance of developing number sense.
     
    THE LIBRARY AND THE RESEARCH PROCESS - Targeted Audience * High School - This session will introduce parents to the variety of print and digital resources available to support student research.
     
    FLIPPED CLASSROOM - Targeted Audience * Middle School and High School - This presentation will focus on informing parents of the benefits of the flipped classroom. We will also present the expectations for students and teachers when teaching with this model. There will be at least two math teachers who use this model regularly at the presentation to answer parent questions
     
    INTRODUCTION TO THE NEXT GENERATION SCIENCE STANDARDS - Targeted Audience * High School - This presentation will be an introduction to the Next Generation Science Standards and how 3 dimensional lessons have changed the way we “do” science in the classroom. Parents will take part in a mini lesson to introduce the way students are modeling and arguing using evidence to support a scientific claim. Concerns regarding the ½ year advanced chemistry and physics course will be addressed in addition to any other parent questions.
     
    WRITING PROGRESSIONS THROUGH THE UPPER ELEMENTARY GRADE LEVELS - Targeted Audience * Elementary Grades 3-5 - This presentation will inform parents of the writing progressions at the upper elementary grade levels. It will feature a study of key writing elements across the three genres of writing throughout the upper elementary grade levels.
     
    SPECIAL EDUCATION POLICY: FAQS AND RESOURCES FOR FAMILIES - Targeted Audience * All Levels - This presentation will provide an overview of relevant special education laws. It will address frequently asked questions about the special education process, and provide resources for families.
     
      HOW THE VISUAL ARTS CAN HELP STUDENTS EXCEL
    - Targeted Audience * Middle School - This presentation will inform parents of the benefits of their student participating in Visual Arts courses. Information will be shared about how the Visual Arts build critical thinking, problem solving, and other essential skills.
     
    NUTRITION: FUELING FOR SUCCESS - Targeted Audience * All Levels - This presentation will inform parents of the hormonal process of digestion and energy uptake/release, as well as which foods assist and inhibit the body from functioning appropriately. This session will help parents create healthy snacks and meals for their students to better equip them for school and sports.
     
    UNDERSTANDING YOUR CHILD’S READING LEVEL - Targeted Audience * Elementary K-5 - This presentation will help parents understand the skills within their child’s reading level and what skills their child will need to master in order to move to the next level and/or into the next reading band.
     
    INTEGRATING STEM IN THE CLASSROOM/IDEAS TO FOSTER STEM THINKING AT HOME - Targeted Audience * Elementary - An overview of Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) at the elementary level, how teachers incorporate it into their classrooms, and activities you can do with your children at home. This will include hands-on building, working with coding and robotics.
     
    WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT THE FIRST YEARS OF HIGH SCHOOL - Targeted Audience * High School Grades 9 and 10 - Getting involved, getting support, finding success!

    G SUITE FOR PARENTS EXPLAINED- Targeted Audience * All Levels - Parents will be introduced to the G Suite apps including Google Classroom. Parents will receive a short description of all components of apps and their main use and learn how to view their students’ work, assignments and homework
     
    WINGMAN PROGRAM AT CLMS – STUDENTS LOOKING OUT FOR STUDENTS! - Targeted Audience * All Levels - Provide parents with an overview of a new CLMS student-led initiative called Wingman designed to enhance our school community and create an environment where students look out for one another.
