My child is struggling and I need help. What should I do?

All of our schools offer a continuum of support services. The principal of your child’s school would be the first contact regarding your questions or concerns.

Elementary

  • School Psychologist and School Social Worker on site to support students with short term or long term more severe social and emotional issues
  • Social Skills Groups
  • Family support services
  • Cooperative teaching opportunities with a special education and general education teacher together. Placement is based on the students Individualized Education Plan (IEP).
  • Support Center services for students with social and emotional concerns that are interfering with their ability to learn – please refer to the support services section of the website for more information.  Placement is based on the students Individualized Education Plan (IEP) or 504 Plan.
  • Specialized support in the areas of reading and/or math based on the students Individualized Education Plan (IEP).
  • Speech and language services, occupational therapy, physical therapy.
  • Assistance with specialized assistant technology concerns
  • Support for students with a visual impairment from the Teacher of the Visually Impaired.
  • Support for students with hearing losses per their specialized plans

  • Self-contained Skills classes in the areas of math and /or reading – with a focus on organization and planning placement based on individual student needs per the Individualized Education Plan (IEP)
  • Support Center services for students with social and emotional concerns that are interfering with their ability to learn – please refer to the support services section of the website for more information. Placement based on individual student needs per the Individualized Education Plan (IEP)
  • Explorers program – a self-contained or part-time program for students with multiple disabilities, intellectual disabilities, and autism. Placement based on individual student needs per the Individualized Education Plan (IEP). The program varies depending on the students individualized needs. Students may have self-contained reading and/or math classes within the program.

  • Study Skills classes for support with core classes with a focus on organization and planning for long term assignments. Students work to become self-advocates and begin the process of planning for their future. This includes transition instruction in the area of post-secondary and employment needs. This course is based on individual student needs per the Individualized Education Plan (IEP)
  • Meetings with guidance counselors to discuss current classes, transition planning and support in with immediate program needs
  • Tutor Center offering small group size support for classes and/or online credit recovery program
  • Support Center services for students with social and emotional concerns that are interfering with their ability to learn – please refer to the support services section of the website for more information. Placement is based on individual student needs per the Individualized Education Plan (IEP)
  • Explorers classroom program varies based on individual student needs per the Individualized Education Plan (IEP). The students are mainstreamed when appropriate and some students have reading and/or math classes within the self-contained setting.
